Playgrounds
As a child there is a need to be one with nature in every sense of the word. Little boys have a fascination with bugs, dirt and trees, while young girls enjoy more organized forms of play. Playgrounds are the designated children’s area for outdoor activity and family fun. Parents bring children to playgrounds to not only keep active, but also allow them to interact with other children of different ages.
Hopscotch is one of the oldest games played on playgrounds and it was first played in 1677, and it has been played by children all around the world since then. Hopscotch boards are usually drawn with chalk or drawn into the ground with a stick. Luckily, playgrounds have become more efficient and have found a longer-lasting solution. Laser line striping is used to apply the hopscotch lines so that they are already there for children, so laser line striping once again deserves more attention than it gets. In order to allow multiple playing and longer playing time, playgrounds have had laser line striping of hopscotch boards placed in designated areas. Touch-ups are preformed every four or five years.
Outdoor Basketball Court Touch-Ups
Dr. James Naismith a Canadian physical education instructor at a YMCA in Massachusetts put peach baskets on an elevated track and invested basketball. Serendipitous discoveries always come out of unsuspecting minds and luckily for us basketball was the final product. An outdoor basketball court that is well-made has designed lines that support the rules of the game. The most important laser ling striping lines are the boundaries for out-of-bounds, three point line and half-court. An outdoor basketball court is open to the elements and weather can destroy the lines with time, so laser line striping is necessary for touch-ups. Playgrounds that house an outdoor basketball court make sure to schedule touch-ups of the laser line striping, so children learn to play regulation basketball.
